Quick Start Guide: Setting Up Your Preconfigured TTN Gateway

Edited

Follow these simple steps to configure your new TTN gateway. Make sure your gateway is claimed before starting (Quandify will do this step for all preconfigured gateways)

1. Prepare Your Gateway

  • Turn On the Gateway: Power up your gateway.

  • Reset the Gateway: Press and hold the RESET button (small button next to the USB-C port at the back) for 5 seconds. The LED will blink rapidly between GREEN and RED a few times.

2. Enter Setup Mode

  • Press and hold the SETUP button (located at the top, next to the LED) for 10 seconds. The LED will start blinking RED rapidly, indicating the gateway is in setup mode.

3. Connect to the Gateway's WiFi

  • Your gateway will now create a WiFi network. Look for a network named MINIHUB-xxxxxx, where “xxxxxx” are the last 6 digits of the gateway’s EUI.

  • Connect to this WiFi network using the WiFi password from the backside of the gateway.

4. Configure WiFi Connection

  • Open a web browser and go to 192.168.4.1 to access the gateway’s WiFi configuration page.

  • Select your preferred WiFi network by clicking the + button next to it. Enter the network password if it's a secure network.

Note: The Things Indoor Gateway does not support enterprise WiFi networks.

5. Save and Reboot

  • Click on Save and Reboot to finish the configuration.

6. Gateway Connection Status

  • After rebooting, the gateway will blink GREEN for a few seconds while it connects to your selected WiFi network.

  • Next, it will blink GREEN to RED for a few seconds as it connects to the server and fetches the configuration.

  • Allow about 5-10 minutes for the gateway to complete the configuration.

7. Firmware Update

  • If this is the first time you’re powering on the gateway or connecting it to WiFi, it may perform a firmware update. You will see alternating GREEN/RED blinks during this process. Keep the gateway powered on and wait until it finishes.
